MAXACRYL SUPER SEALER |
|
The most versatile,
environmentally friendly sealer for the 21st century |
|
Description
Maxacryl SS was formulated for maximum resistance to water and oils and it has such water resistance that it may be applied just prior to rainfall yet properly coalesce and be blanche-free. Its oil and lubricant resistance make it suitable for use in airports (skydrol resistance) and driveways (gas and oil resistance). Applied at very thin coat weights it shows excellent leveling and resistance to cratering. For driveways and other architectural installations it is most common to apply 2 spray coats with an intervening dry period of approximately one hour. The rate of cure will depend upon the temperature and wind but exterior single coat applications are usually dry in 1 hour and can tolerate heavy traffic within 4 hours. Maxacryl SS backbone is entirely acrylic and shows excellent resistance to UV light for good durability. Maxacryl SS can also be pigmented with a range of aqueous universal tinting colors to provide, for instance, a black driveway sealer, yellow striping paints and green tennis court finishes, though it is most widely used in clear coats. The air-dry cure of Maxacryl SS is such that it has outstanding resistance to solvents and special strippers must be used to remove it once cured. These solvents are based on NMP or toluene. Once dried, the film has very high resistance to removal by common stripping agents including acids and alkalis. Being latex, the film has good breath ability, but is almost a virtual barrier to liquid water, and there is no effect from water on the visual appearance (i.e. no blanching). Applied at a
thickness of about 1 mil, the coverage rate is ~500 square feet per US Gallon.
It is common to apply this sealer by brush, roller or spray. Applications
